Project #18 - This week our focus is to zoom in on who or what we appreciate most. (See Monday, August 2nd)
What is one of the main obstacles to expressing our appreciation or taking the time to enjoy something that nourishes our souls?
Here's a hint from iStockphoto:
When we do open our eyes to what has been put off, there can be feelings of sadness over lost or missed opportunities. Also known as regret.
Regret (which can be quite a teacher, when examined objectively), is that often painful awakening to what we wished we would have said or done.
A healthy remedy here is to allow ourselves the space and time to consider, to be mindful of the actions we wish to take to express our thankfulness. (Key here - Choice! No have to's, no shoulds, no musts, no threats if you don't)
This healthy remedy is about knowing we all procrastinate in some way or another. No big deal. It's in the knowing and then in the remembering it's there, not judging it, and then shifting our focus, our attention, to expressing our thanks. One action, whether it be spontaneous or thought out, sets us on a new path.
That's a purpose within each post, within each project.
So if we find ourselves procrastinating expressing our thanks, or taking the time to enjoy an activity that nourishes our souls, once again, no big deal. Observe it, say thanks, and shift directions. Action is the key.
